The English-language course “Actual methods of theater research”

In the new semester, the English-language course “Actual methods of theater research” has begun for Master’s students majoring in 026 Performing Arts (Theater Studies) at the Department of Theater Studies and Acting at the Faculty of Culture Arts of the University. For the first time in the history of the faculty and the department, lectures and practical classes will be conducted by a visiting foreign lecturer – Associate Professor of Stetson University (USA) Mayhill Fowler. Mayhill Fowler is a well-known researcher of the history of Ukrainian theater of the twentieth century, author of the monograph “Beaumonde on the edge of the empire. State and Stage in Soviet Ukraine” (Toronto, 2017), and a number of articles on Soviet and post-Soviet culture and art in Ukraine. Mayhill actively cooperated with scientific institutions and art schools in Ukraine, in particular, with the Center for Urban History (Lviv), I. Kotliarevskyi Kharkiv National University of Arts, the Les Kurbas National Center for Theater Arts (Kyiv), the State Museum of Theater, Music, and Cinematography of Ukraine, etc. Students of the course will receive important modern tools of theater research, which they will be able to use in their research work.
