The Department of Library Science and Bibliography was founded in 1999 at the Faculty of Philology. Since 2004 it has been functioning as a structural subdivision of the Faculty of Culture and Arts and provides educational process for students majoring in 029 “Archival Studies” at educational levels “Bachelor”, and “Master”. From the moment of its creation the leading experts-practitioners have been teaching speciality disciplines providing systematic cooperation with stakeholders and the appropriate professional socialization of the graduates. Today the department employs 15 teachers, including 2 professors: Doctor of Historical Sciences B. Z. Yakymovych, Doctor of Social Communications N. E. Kunanets and 9 candidates of historical, philological and social communications sciences.

The department positions itself as a permanent participant in the system of scientific communication of the field and the professional community of Ukraine. The department participates in the work of professional associations in the field, in particular it maintains close connections with the Ukrainian Library Association as its official partner.

From the moment of its creation until 2010 the head of the department was the Candidate of Historical Sciences, associate professor O. M. Kolosovska, since 2011 the duties of the head of the department were performed by the Candidate of Philological Sciences, associate professor R.O. Krokhmalnyi. From 2015 to 2021 the Associate Professor N. R. Demchuk was the head of the department. Since September 2021 the duties of the head of the department are performed by R. Z. Bilousova.

Львів, 10 листопада 2022 року).
Даний захід організований Студентським науковим гуртка кафедри режисури та хореографії: куратор кандидат мистецтвознавства, доцент кафедри режисури та хореографії Олександр Анатолійович Плахотнюк при підтримці ради молодих вчених факультету .
